BLUE JEANS – both the name of a Curacao-based cocktail (that I hated making) sold at my old job (that I hated working), and hardworking wardrobe staple. But unlike me at my old job, my blue jeans show up every time and put in 100% – managing the sweaty walk to the city or Friday afternoon drinks in the valley, no worries.

Another hardworking staple is linen. Despite its tendency to wrinkle if you so much as breathe on it, linen is one of the most expensive and sought-after textiles in the world, and a quintessential summer fabric. Strong, lightweight and highly absorbent, it wicks moisture away from your skin, keeping you looking and feeling fresh AF. Get it in white,  and you’ll spend the long summer days feeling as though you’re straight out The Hamptons.

The mood to wear a dress doesn’t strike me often, much less the mood to wear a bright red, floral, look-at-me dress. However, if there’s one occasion that warrants a game of dress ups – it’s definitely a birthday. My mother purchased this dress for me because when I walked out of the change room, I looked, and I quote, “like a girl!” and despite my initial instinct to yell that she didn’t understand me, she was right. Light, flirty and fun – perfect for date night when paired with heeled mules, or thrown on with some sneakers for a lazy morning wandering the markets.

So, in conclusion, I’ve decided that dresses are underrepresented in my wardrobe – they’re incredibly versatile, the ventilation is incredible, plus I didn’t get a weird muffin top when I’d finished scarfing down my birthday pasta.

Comfort is usually my one pre-requisite when putting an outfit together. For an ensemble to get the green light, I have to be able to have a boogie, sit on a crowded bus for more than five minutes, eat too much pizza, have a nap and just generally walk through life feeling secure in my clothes.

I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled this liquid gold beauty out for an night with mates, and realised that not only does it satisfy all my needs in terms of comfort, but everything (even the wine!) I paired it with cost less than $20. When an outfit makes you feel good, look good and each piece costs less than your 3am Valley Maccas order, what else could you possibly want?

MELODRAMA WORLD TOUR, BRISBANE 23.11.17

I hadn’t planned to go to Lorde’s show, but a severe bout of FOMO struck as Hannah and Gemma were dashing about in a flurry of makeup, clothing changes and glasses of cheap wine. Suddenly Mia & I found ourselves running barefoot into Woolies for cash, and then madly dashing into the city to buy tickets from a mum who’d realised she was “too old to party with the young ones”. Her words.

What followed was one of the most beautiful, hilarious nights I’ve ever had – a cocktail of tears, laughs, love, vodka and redbull. What else do you need, really?
